The Dinner and First Dance Wedding DJ Playist

This past weekend I had the thrill to DJ for an incredible couple, Joyce & Chris, and help them put together their wedding dj playlist. They had a very family-focused and marriage-honoring wedding celebration. We started off the evening by having their first dance turn into a family dance, incorporating their parents and other family members first dance songs into theirs. I played the wedding songs in this order:

2:11 We Are Man And Wife - Michelle Featherstone
1:08 My Love - Paul Mccartney
1:02 You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling - Righteous Brothers
1:04 (Everything I Do) I Do It For You - Bryan Adams
1:11 Better Together 1 Min - Song Clips

I added the times to show that I didn’t play the songs in their entirety as that would have dragged out too long. Each song came from a parent’s first dance or a brother or sisters first dance. It was a touching surprise and I know they all were happy with how this special and unique dance turned out. The on-site coordinator said, “That was AMAZING!”

Another great aspect of this wedding was their wedding DJ playlist for the dinner set. Notice the variety of songs and how they build from slower tunes to more upbeat music.

When I Fall In Love - Nat King Cole With Natalie
Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
Fly Me To The Moon - Frank Sinatra
Love's Devine - Seal
Lucky - Jason Mraz F Colbie Caillat
A Kiss To Build A Dream On - Louis Armstrong
Kiss Of Life - Sade
Come On Get Higher - Matt Nathanson
Silly Love Songs - Paul Mccartney
You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You - Dean Martin
Two Is Better Than One - Boys Like Girls F Taylor Swift
Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop - Landon Pigg
Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel
You Found Me - Fray
Follow You, Follow Me - Genesis
Just Say Yes - Snow Patrol
This Will Be (An Everlasting L - Natalie Cole
Say It Again - Marie Digby
You And Me - Dave Matthews Band
Bubbly - Colbie Caillat

As you can see, this variety of music pleased a lot of people over the course of their dinner hour. Their dance set wasn’t full of a lot of 2010 top 40 wedding songs and hits, but the songs were picked because they meant something special to the couple. I won’t add the list here. After my next event, I’ll be adding another wedding DJ playlist for you to enjoy, so see you next week!

James...Thank you again for making our day so very special. All the long days of planning, listening to ITunes and Starbucks meeting in Pasadena paid off. We hope others use our idea for the family dance..for us it made everyone in our family feel special and brought them back to their special day.
